On 30th January, SSVM Mettupalayam hosted RusFest 2026, an inspiring cultural showcase that brought the spirit, history, and artistic richness of Russia to our campus through the universal language of dance and storytelling. The celebrations unfolded across two special shows held in the forenoon and afternoon, allowing a wider audience of students and faculty to experience this cultural exchange.
For the past several years, the Russian Cultural Team has played a meaningful role in nurturing cultural awareness among our students. This year’s edition was especially memorable, with a largely new group of performers presenting a fresh theme, reflecting renewed creativity, youthful energy, and a deeper global perspective.
The event unfolded as a vibrant cultural journey—from the joyful rhythms of Kalinka and the graceful narrative of Young Mlada, to the elegance of classical ballet, the passion of Flamenco – Farruca, and the unifying finale, RUSSIA. Each performance echoed values of discipline, harmony, and international friendship.
Reflecting on the deep cultural connection between our nations, Alexander Dodonov, Director of the Russian House in Chennai, has noted at a Chennai event that “in both Russia and India, dance is not merely an art form, but a form of national identity.” His words strongly resonate with the spirit of cultural exchange celebrated at RusFest 2026.
We were honored by the presence of Shri Ravi Chandran, General Secretary, Indo-Russian Culture Centre, Chennai, whose encouragement and support added great significance to the occasion.
